The Houston Methodist Hospital System in Houston, Texas, is seeking a faculty member to serve as Head of the Division of Acute Care Surgery. The division head is responsible for the clinical, educational and research programs of the division, including faculty recruitment and network development. Houston Methodist Hospital is the flagship tertiary care academic medical center of the system, with 982 beds, 87 operating rooms and 5 critical care units, including a 27 bed surgical intensive care unit. The clinical responsibilities of the division faculty include provision of attending coverage and programmatic direction of the surgical and liver critical care unit, emergency surgery and surgical hospitalist service, nutritional support program, and development of the surgical critical care network in the 6 Houston Methodist System hospitals in the greater Houston area. Research programs in clinical, translational and health services research are ongoing in the division and the department of surgery. The successful candidate will continue to build these research initiatives as programs within the Houston Methodist Research Institute, a state of the art research institute with an annual research portfolio exceeding $125M. The Department of Surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position in emergency general surgery and surgical critical care.

This full-time assistant or associate professor appointment provides excellent benefits and research opportunities. The candidate must be a BC/BE general surgeon with fellowship training in surgical critical care. As part of an academic Acute Care Surgery group, your responsibilities will include general surgery resident education as well as clinical staff duties for both emergency general surgery and surgical intensive care. The Surgical ICU is a busy 27-bed non-cardiac unit with a strong multidisciplinary team and clinical research focus. There are no trauma duties required.

Northern California Trauma Surgery Opportunity

Modesto, California

Sutter Health-affiliated Memorial Medical Center is sponsoring recruitment of a BE/BC Critical Care certified Trauma Surgeon to join Modesto Surgical Associates, a local private practice group. This position will fill the need for a dedicated traumatologist, and will eventually oversee the trauma surgery program. Duties will include Acute Care Surgery and Acute General Surgery. Experience is a plus, but not required. The other surgeons in the group are ready to support the incoming candidate. The compensation package is competitive and an income guarantee will be given.

Shifts are 24 hours for 4 days on and 2 days off. Responsibilities will include: • Responding to trauma activations • Consulting and operating on acute general surgeries • Managing critical care patients • Seeing patients in the trauma clinic • Documentation on Epic (EMR) • Working collaboratively with the rest of the trauma team, including advanced practice clinicians
